报告人简介:
Prof. R. Sundaravadivelu has obtained PhD from IIT Madras in 1985 and has 30 Years of
Teaching, Research and Consultancy experience in IIT Madras in the field of Offshore, Coastal,
Ship and Ports & Harbor Structures. He has published 60 Journal and 160 Conference papers
and written two books. He has guided 19 PhD, 15 M.S and 25 M. Tech thesis. During his tenure
as the Head, Dept. of Ocean engineering, IIT Madras from 2006 to 2009, he has introduced M.
Tech programs in Ocean Technology and Petroleum Engineering. He is the Fellow of the Indian
National Academy of Engineering, Member of the Bureau of Indian Standards on Port & Harbor
structures and organizing committee member of the OMAE conference on Offshore Mechanics
and Arctic Engineering. International projects on non- ship shaped FPSO and mobile offshore
base and Innovative projects on classic SPAR for offshore wind energy and JACKET SPAR for
integrated OTEC- Offshore desalination system are the current research areas. The
modernization and development of ports and shipyards, retrofitting and rehabilitation of
berthing structures after earthquake and Tsunami are significant contributions in port sector.
As a member of the technical advisory committee, prestigious Ramseur award was received for
restoration of Chilika lake as a wetland.
